Preet Bassi
CEO, Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE)
Preet Bassi has been chief executive officer for the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) since 2014 and oversees work across all fire department accreditation, credentialing, and education programs with a focus on the organization's strategic direction. During her tenure, CPSE has experienced unprecedented growth and impact. Prior to CPSE, she was the Director of Finance and Administration for the International Accreditation Service and managed their Fire and Life Safety and Building Department Accreditation programs. She has experience at both the local and state government levels, having worked for the City of Anaheim, California, and the California State Assembly.
Preet currently chairs the NFPA 1022 Technical Committee, a new standard for fire service analysts. She also serves as the Vice Chair of the Congressional Fire Service Institute's National Advisory Committee and the Vice Chair of the American Society of Association Executives' Research Committee. Preet holds a master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, and dual bachelor's degrees in Economics and Political Science form the University of California Davis. She is credentialed as a Certified Association Executive through the American Society of Association Executives. In 2019, she was part of the inaugural cohort for the University of Pennsylvania's Executive Program in Social Innovation Design and completed Cornell's Diversity and Inclusion eCertificate Program in 2020.
